ABOUT

Traveling Seamstress- No project too big, too small, or too weird!

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I am excited to help you with all your clothing repair and custom project needs. As a lifelong sewist, I have a deep appreciation for the craft, having learned from my grandmother and great-grandmother from a young age. Later, I honed my skills in garment construction by making homecoming and prom dresses for family and friends. In 2006, I earned a BFA in Fibers and Mixed Media from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

In 2013, I started my journey as the Traveling Seamstress on Block Island. During my first summer, I would travel from home to home, offering my services to clients in need of clothing alterations and repairs. Eventually, in 2017, I opened a brick-and-mortar shop, expanding my services to include handmade and hand-dyed goods, making it a one-stop destination for all your clothing repair and custom design needs. Whether you need alterations for your everyday wear or custom projects for your home or boat, I am here to bring your vision to life.

Please follow me on Instagram @travelingseamstress to get up-to-date hours and current offerings available in-store and online.
